High magnitude earthquake hits the United States, many feared dead (Photo)

A massive earthquake has destroyed parts of at least six states in the United States. It is reportedly one of the biggest tremors felt in Oklahoma on record. People were just waking up when the 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Pawnee in central Oklahoma.
The massive quake was felt 800 miles away in Chicago with reports that houses had collapsed.

Residents in Kansas City, Missouri, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Norman, Oklahoma also reported feeling the earthquake at around 7.05am local time.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said: “There has been a very substantial earthquake with aftershocks going on for several minutes.”
Residents reported feeling tremors lasting for around 20 seconds each as aftershocks measuring 3.6 and 2.9 battered the region.

It’s believed the earthquake is one of the strongest to hit Oklahoma ever, matching the state’s 2011 record.
Residents reported waking up to pictures falling off walls and beds rocking as a bank building was destroyed and properties ruined.
