I never met Dagrin when he was alive - Rapper Olamide reveals

In an interview with Olisa Adibua on talk show, ‘The Truth’, the rapper disclosed that he never met the late Dagrin.

It's 7 years since the death of Dagrin. The rapper died on April 22, 2010, after a vehicle accident in Lagos State.
And although he is late, his influence on Nigerian Hip-hop will never be forgotten. Pulse is remebering the rapper with different aspects of his story, and we throwback to this interview by Olisa Adibua, featuring Olamide.
In the interview, Olamide revealed that he never met Dagrin.
The young rapper, real name Olamide Adedeji, is currently rated as the best in Nigeria, rising meteorically with his hit singles made in Yoruba language.
Many owe his current success to the late Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, also known as Dagrin, was an award winning Nigerian rapper from Ogun state, Nigeria, who took indigenous rap to mainstream entertainment before his tragic death by autocrash in April 2010.
In an interview with Olisa Adibua on talk show, ‘The Truth’, the rapper disclosed that he never met the late Dagrin.

“I never met him”, Olamide said. “I never met him at all”.
Even without a direct physical encounter, Olamide admits that Dagrin was instrumental as a forerunner of indigenous music, paving the way for the younger generation of rappers to prosper.
“Actually he did. He paved way for people like me, as well as Lord of Ajasa. Lord of Ajasa paved the way for people like me, Idris Abdulkareem, the likes of AY, Junior & Pretty. It’s a movement, it has to keep going on. Every now and then, every new set of artistes that come out, they have to pave the way for a new generation.
Olamide recently did release a joint album with rapper Phyno. The collaborative album is titled '2 Kings'.
The album contains ten tracks and features Lil Kesh, Wizkid and Storm Rex. Producers on the project include Pheelz, B. Banks, Young John, and Major Bangz.
