Breaking news: Aircraft carrying Brazilian football team crashes in Colombia (Photo)

An aircraft with 72 members of Brazilian football team on board has crashed in Colombia, south of Medellin’s international airport, according to reports.
The plane which had members of a Brazilian soccer team known as Chapecoense, was coming from Bolivia the incident happened.
First responders are at the crash site already, but details on the number of injuries and fatalities remain unknown.

The soccer team is scheduled to play Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday in Medellin.
The Colombian soccer team said it “deeply regrets and sympathizes with Chapescoense” and is waiting for more details of the crash.

The people on board
There were 72 passengers and 9 crew on board the charter plane. Officials from Jose Maria Cordova International Airport released a statement reporting only six survivors..

The plane reportedly crashed due to lack of fuel at around 10.15pm local time.
