Football star Rigobert Song dies after suffering stroke attack

There are current reports making the rounds on social media that former Cameroon international Rigobert Song Bahanag has passed away at the age of 40.

several online newspapers are reporting that he passed away on October 7, days after government officials in his homeland had given him the all-clear.


It was learnt that Mr Song suffered a stroke on October 3 and was said to have been making a recovery.
ESPN had reported that Cameroon’s health minister, Andre Mama Fouda, said on October 5:
“He leaves conscious. His life is no longer in danger, but he is not out of the woods yet. We hope he gets well soon, and comes back in full form, as we know him to be.”
On the same day, CamFoot reported that Song had opened his eyes following his coma, Heavy reports.
The online newspaper claimed that Song had been airlifted from Yaounde in his homeland to Paris.
On Friday, L’Equipe gathered that Song’s operation had been a success and that he was on the road to recovery.
However, netizens on Twitter claim otherwise as the hashtag#RIPRigobertSong is trending on Saturday morning, October 8, 2016.

Also, his West Ham football club confirmed the news through their official twitter handle.
